Making Peace with Food

Thinking about food

At our information night a woman said, ” It’s going to take some time to wrap my mind around thinking differently about food”. This is so true!! In the battle to win food struggles we often immerse ourselves in books and talk shows about food and eating habits which involve much more complicated processes. The idea of eating only when physically hungry, eating only until satisfied, and making your eating habits count for something is a simple concept that has been around  since the beginning of time !! As I researched the internet forums and blogs while preparing this program I found that people found great success in this basic way of eating. Some added additional rules r but the core thinking was the same. IT IS SO SIMPLE!!!!! But as with many simple ideas the re-thinking is NOT EASY ! One the hardest parts it to really start enjoying ALL the food you love! Remember guilt and shame have to come off the table…. one of the number 1 “rules” of Joyful Eating.

May Joy find you!

I agree with most of your post, but I don’t think a person should only eat when he is hungry. I try to stay in the middle ground most of the time, so that I am not full, but I never get too hungry that my stomach starts hurting. But if it works for them, that’s great! :)

Sounds like you are already tuned in and have developed your “program” and your place of hunger.. that is the ultimate goal of our program that each person develop their own program which reflects feeding your body for the purpose of fueling it AND learning to really enjoy food when you do. What we find is that many people are not tuned into physical hunger at all so waiting for physical hunger is a starting place. Maybe I need to re-word this concept a little. Thank you so much for your insight.
